VERNAL
March 2023
We sit together in the potentiality of equilibrium. As we slowly emerge out of our own hibernation I invite you to close your eyes and stretch, do so in any way your body calls you to, how does it feel? where did you really need it?
So much happened in the dark of winter, as we frosted and slowed down our energies to go deep within and allowed ourselves the holding comforts of home, now as we move towards a new phase we thaw into a changed form, once more.
We find ourselves perhaps in same places different spaces, we are here again but it’s our first time here. With the menu today, we encourage you to fill your plate with images piled before you, share them with those around you and as we ingest the meanings and they change and root as we digest let us bring in the spring together.
In this space today we hold pools and portals inviting us to dive into the depths of life, invigorating ourselves into this very existence, may we feel refreshed and nourished,
We honour seeds as they hold life and growth and intention and promise, perhaps inviting us into what we want to sow for collective selves, of how patience and nurture and care day in day out yields the breaking of shell and shooting of sprout
Although the middle of March can be seen as somewhat sparse on the harvest front, know that there is always enough and that we are cared for and fed in every sense of the word. We always have enough to share together. Perhaps we have to rethink our resources, but we can. There are new foodways being made with every breath. There is the emergence of freshness in hearty spring greens, fresh carrot and soft buttery baby potatoes. tender.
May we remember to hold ourselves with tenderness in our changing forms, and each other as our collective body reconfigures itself again and again.
We share this table with our microbial kin in the form of ferment, the symbiosis we hold with non human species is sacred, it is happening around us and within us all the time, we pay homage to the billions. What can we learn, imbibe in our own chosen practices day by day?
what might it feel like to stretch into new connections?
As we break the screen bread and re form it into a different plane of food what do we take what do we leave how does it change. feel it crack in your fingers the power of destruction
Today your plate is your sacred offering, as you choose what blessings to evoke in this change of season i ask you, what does it look like on your plate? what does it feel like on your tongue? and how easily do they slide down your throat and become you?
does this season have a name for you? or you for it? or a sound or a beat or a stretch?
